Richard "Richie" Stephen Sambora est né le 11 juillet 1959 à Pert Amboy dans le New Jersey, aux États-Unis. Il est d'origine polonaise par son père Adam et italienne par sa mère, Joan. Richie est fils unique. Richie est depuis 1984 le guitariste du groupe de Hard FM Bon Jovi.

Il a grandi à Woodbridge, New Jersey. Il s'est marié avec Heather Dean Locklear le 17 décembre 1994, à l'Eglise Américaine de Paris. Ils ont eu une petite fille ensemble, Ava Elizabeth Sambora qui est née le 4 octobre 1997.Il a divorcé en février 2007 et peu après, rompait avec l'actrice Denise Richards.

Ses passe temps sont le basket-ball, le jet-ski, et les balades en bateau. Il a une collection impressionnante de guitares.

Il possède trois tatouages : une petite étoile sur sa main droite, un autre sur son bras droit représentant une guitare ailée avec les mots "who dares wins" (qui ose gagne) et une croix avec une rose sur son bras gauche avec les mots "God" (Dieu) et "Faith (foi).

Il a joué dans beaucoup d'autres groupes avant de faire partie de Bon Jovi, tels que : Rebel, Mercy, Duke Williams and the Extremes,Message, Richie Sambora and Friends, The Next, Shark Frenzy.

En dehors d'être un guitariste de talent, il joue également de l'accordéon, de la basse, de la batterie, de la trompette, du piano et aussi du saxophone. Ses groupes favoris sont: Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, Paul Rodgers, et le blues en général.

Il a deux albums solo à son actif: Stranger In This Town (1991)et Undiscovered Soul (1998)

Il a collaboré avec d'autres artistes, notamment : Album "Lessons" avec Message en 2004. Nombreuses sessions comme musicien de studio dès 1978 à New York. Composition pour l'album "Wildside" de Loverboy (1987). Have you seen me lately? de Sam Kinison (1988) Un titre co-écrit sur l'album "If you can't lick'em .. Lick'em" de Ted Nugent (1988) à la composition et à la guitare sur l'album "Trash" d'Alice Cooper (1989) co-producteur de "Gorky Park" de Gorky Park (1989) Sur la BO du film "The Adventures Of Ford Fairlane" (1990) sur l'album "Discipline" de Desmond Child (1991) sur la compilation "Guitars that rule the world" (1991) Composition et Guitares sur l'album "Ca ne change pas un homme" de Johnny Hallyday" (1991) sur "Love's Alright" d'Eddie Murphy. sur "Rockhead" de Rockhead (1992). sur l'album "Muddy Water Blues - A tribute to Muddy Waters" de Paul Rodgers (1993). sur la compilation "The Glory Of Gershwin" (1994). Et Richie a notamment composé des musiques de publicité (comme pour la bière Michelob, pour Snapple Iced Tea ...) plus récemment à l'occasion du 90ème anniversaire de Les Paul, il a participé à l'album hommage American Made World Played.

Richie a 2 albums a son actif mais il parait qu'un 3 éme est en route :)
Son premier album solo '' Stranger In This Town '' est sortie en 1991
ensuite il y a eu '' Undiscovered Soul '' qui lui est sortie en 1998

Maintenant attendons le 3 éme avec impatience :D
